Much of network building has been has been happening on email lists as well as face to face meetings, but also in co-operation of practical tasks in all parts of open co-operative direct action / alternative reporting.

New Imc Process in the UK

Global Indymedia has a set process for new IMCs. It can take quite a long time until a new imc has collected all the necessary documents. In the past, imc-uk has offered subsections to emerging imcs, so they could have a website while going through the new-imc process. The United Kollectives are now thinking about a proposal to deal with new imcs in the uk regionally, so that new regional groups don't need to be approved globally.

• NewImcUk has started to document the discussion. Imc Italy went to a similar process. They give a page to regional collectives only after these collectives have been involved in the running of the italy page for some months. More mails: 1
• A snapshot of United Kollektives common grounds in terms of working practices plus intro was sent to [imc-uk-process] in April 2003. Oxford and Sheffield picked it up, and there were reactions from Cambridge, Manchester, Leeds. We might use it as a starting point for a uk based new-imc process. An updated version (Sept 03) is on UkNetworkSnapshot, archived on imc-uk-process (here.
