  2. Calendar - can't add multiple entries: BIM - much as I appreciate your desire to prevent infinite spam to the website (newswire & calendar), it is very frustrating for those of us trying to post up weekly events to the calendar....that the website prevents, or at least seriously delays, us from doing so. This evening I am trying to post on the calendar for March, details of the regular Sat & Sun cafes at Kebele, and other events. So far it has taken me over 15 minutes to manage 2 Saturday postings. 2. site title seems to be 'Features - Bristol Indymedia' in the top bar of the browser. Can we just make it 'Bristol Indymedia'? I have looked at the admin section and it looks like this comes from the oscaliat construction of adding the features module.

  2. Text size on comments form "Enter your name or pseudonym" etc. (all text in that format) is too small. 1. When there are no comments to a story - maybe say at the bottom "No comments yet - click here to add yours!"

  1. Video Upload File Size - The current upload limit on video files to the new site seems way too small - it's about 9mb. This would certainly lead me not to bother posting videos to bristol indymedia - and i imagine this would apply to other filmmakers too. Bear in mind that minidv is 25mb/second and hddvcpro is 100mb/second. Sites such as youtube allow up 100mb files (although these then get re-encoded as much smaller flash movies using an old sorenson spark codec)....can i suggest a 30mb limit for videos?
  2. Error Messages Could we change these?
    • When I uploaded a file that was too big, it rejected it, fine as it should, but is it possible to change the error message displayed? Currently is says: "Warning: POST Content-Length of 69625391 bytes exceeds the limit of 8388608 bytes in Unknown on line 0" Ideas would be to be: "Sorry! The file was too big to be uploaded to this site. Please make it smaller and try again. See our help page for more information." 1. add to site static pages new banning procedure for usernames & offline page, email list to about us for offline, offline page, update film nights page.

  1. friendly URLs The friendly URLs I have created seem to have gone! I logged in and tried to re-create them, but when I go, they seem to get un-created as soon as done with the error message, "failed to get lock on redirect cache file cache/redirectcache.inc"
  2. comment delay If you click on 'view latest comments' at the bottom of the homepage, all comments can be seen in full as soon as they are posted. http://bristol.indymedia.org/comments Some contributors seem to have realised this, others haven't. I noticed it immediately, but assumed it was known about by others in the collective, and would be changed shortly, but as others posting as 'imcvol' don't seem to be aware of this, then it seems to have been overlooked.

See our help page for more information." (where help is a link to the help page, launching it in a new window or tab)
    • Similar issue for the image being too big, currently it says, "Image width exceeds maximum image width : test image.JPG Max width: 1000" Ideally we would add "Please make it smaller and try again. See our help page for more information." (again, help link launches in new window)

from IMC UK meeting
  • The proposed new IMC London system;
http://london.escapegoat.org/ - you can see it has folksonomy tagging for topics and locations, displayed as a tag cloud.
  • The video stuff is great; http://london.escapegoat.org/videos/35 when a file up uploaded it creates a flash video file, which can then be viewed, but it also creates an OGG video file that can be downloaded, the download is handled by p2p to keep bandwidth to a minimum. It also has RSS video feeds for all video files.
  • Then there was this timeline; http://london.escapegoat.org/timeline/timeline An interactive timeline of events which you can drag around but also click on any event to bring it up.
  • they also added Ical downloads to the calendar feeds.

Be cool to get some of this in Oscailt?

To Do:
  • Add IMC Climate to front page? I have added this link to the About Us page
  • Look and Feel (copy existing site - i.e. left bar, publish button the same) choice-yes.gif
